Plan Your Trip with Confidence

Below are some of the most common questions we receive about hunting, dog training, and visiting The Madison Ranch. If you do not see your answer here, feel free to contact us directly. Our team is always happy to help.

About The Madison Ranch

The Madison Ranch is a working ranch property outside Three Forks, Montana offering pointing dog training and seasonal upland bird hunts. We focus on producing reliable, practical hunting dogs built for real field conditions, and we host pheasant hunts each season for sportsmen who value a quality experience over volume.

We are located outside Three Forks, Montana, close to river-bottom cover, native grasslands, and working ranch country that reflects the same terrain hunters encounter in the field each fall.

We train dogs the way they’re meant to hunt — on real ground, in real cover, with the goal of shaping a confident and reliable hunting companion. Every dog learns at its own pace, and we focus on building natural ability, not just checking boxes on a program.

Dog Training FAQs

We work with pointing breeds of all backgrounds and experience levels, from young dogs learning the basics to seasoned dogs polishing steadiness and manners in the field.

We welcome both puppies and advanced dogs. That includes everything from early foundation work to steadiness, field handling, and real-hunt preparation.

Every dog progresses differently. Genetics, maturity, drive, exposure, and owner goals all play a role in the timeline. We set expectations during an initial consultation and tailor the work accordingly.

Policies & Logistics

Yes. A reservation deposit is required to secure your spot on the calendar.

Cancellations made with reasonable notice may be rescheduled based on availability. Short-notice cancellations will result in forfeiting the deposit.

Safety comes first. If weather conditions create risk for dogs or hunters, we will adjust accordingly. Early season hunts are often short and must be conducted early in the morning due to high temperatures creating risks for dogs.

Booking & Getting Started

Contact us to schedule a call or consultation. We’ll discuss goals, timing, availability, and what to expect moving forward.

Training and hunting reservations often fill early, especially during peak upland season. We encourage booking ahead to secure preferred dates.
