Hunting season at The Madison Ranch runs from September through March, giving guests months of opportunity to experience prime upland bird hunting in the heart of Montana.
Guests may choose between two styles of hunting, depending on their preference and group needs:
Bring your own dogs and hunt at your own pace. Reservations include the number of hunters and birds, and our staff will point out bird locations before you head into the field.
For a more structured experience, guided hunts are available in limited numbers. These hunts include a professional guide, a bag lunch, and personalized assistance in the field. Once the lodge opens in Fall 2026, guided packages will expand to include multi-day stays with options for 3-day bird hunts or 4-day Cast & Blast trips.
Hunts at The Madison Ranch are designed for small groups of up to six hunters, ensuring plenty of space, attention, and opportunity in the field. This size allows for flexibility whether you are hunting with longtime friends, planning a family outing, or bringing colleagues for a unique shared experience. By keeping group numbers limited, we create a setting where every hunter has the chance to enjoy the land, work with their dogs, and make the most of their time on the ranch.
To help your check-in go quickly, please complete the Madison Ranch Acknowledgment of Risk and Release of Negligence Liability before arriving. You can download the PDF and upload the signed copy with this form.
